Disability Dispute


A Minnesota chiropractor purchased a disability insurance policy that paid based on an own occupation definition and another policy that paid for total disability based on an any occupation definition.  Nearly a year after having his chiropractic license suspended, Cich submitted a disability claim stating he was unable to work due to an adjustment disorder for which he was receiving treatment from a licensed social worker.  Cich was denied coverage under policies.  Though he presented interesting arguments, a court confirmed that there was no basis for payment under these insurance policies.
